Emily White is an artist and photographer whose work is concerned with geology, ecology and the relationship between humans and their environment. Her images communicate a poetic understanding of the natural world and offers a bridge between knowing and feeling, between science and art. She is interested in themes of time, ephemerality, and place. Growing up in rural Virginia, nature has always been very prominent in her life, and she believes there is no separation between us and the ground we stand upon. We are a part of nature, not above it, and therefore, we must show respect and a responsibility in preserving it. Nature sustains both her practice and soul. Emily is currently based in Providence, RI. She attended Massachusetts College of Art and Design and studied within their Studio For Interrelated Media program.
